President’s Message

This month normally is a very active one, and this year is no exception.  The Boys  Seminars at Beacon Lodge was held on the first weekend of  this month and the Girls Seminar is scheduled for the weekend of April 8-10.  Malinda Lancaster will represent our Club at the Girls Seminar. TheTri-Club meeting with the Lions Clubs from Hershey and Palmyra was held on the 5th of this month, and the all-important District 14-D  Convention will be held later this month, as well. Additionally, the School Night of Instruction for next year's Club officers will be held later in April. There is still ample time to invite a potentially good  Lion to a meeting.  You just have to take the time to ask someone.  You might be surprised at the favorable result.

Programs for April

Tuesday, April 5 – This was the night of our annual meeting with the Lions from Hershey and Palmyra. Obviously, by the time you are reading this newsletter, that meeting is history.  However, it was announced in last month's newsletter.

Tuesday, April 12 – There will be no regular meeting on this date.  The Tri-Club meeting replaced this regular meeting this month.

Tuesday, April 26, 6:15 p.m. at the Fire Hall – a regular meeting night;  our guest speaker will be Denisha Kline, who is the Head of the Physical Therapy Department at the Schreiber Pediatric Center in Lancaster.  This widely acclaimed Center treats children ages 6-months through high school who have physical development delays and other physical needs.  Denisha lives here in Elizabethtown and will share with us the many types of issues and successes they experience at the Center.  This very informative program will include some time for questions from our Club.

E-mail Anyone?

For several years now the members of our Club have had the  option of receiving this monthly newsletter in one of two ways – either via the U.S. Postal System – that is, in the regular mail – or, via  electronic mail – email.  At the present time we have 19 members who receive it via email, but that option is still available to any member who wishes.  If you want to begin receiving your Lions Ledger on your computer each month, please notify Lion Dale Williams and he will  begin this method of delivery with the next issue of the newsletter.

Greeters on April 26

Our official Greeters for the regular meeting on Tuesday, April 26, will be Lions Harry McMullen and Bill Moore.  Be sure to shake their hand and say "Howdy" as you enter the meeting room that evening.

Today's Chuckles

*  While proudly showing off his new apartment to friends, a college student led the way into his den. "What is the big brass gong and hammer for?" one of his friends asked. "Oh, that's the talking clock," the man said.  "How's that work?" the friend asked.  "Watch," he replied, and then proceeded to give the gong an ear shattering pound with the hammer.  Suddenly someone screamed from the other side of the wall, "KNOCK IT OFF OVER THERE!  It's two o'clock in the morning!"

*   My friend is engaged in a major custody battle.  His wife doesn't want him and his mother won't take him back.
